The Young and the Restless The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Friday, May 15, reveals that Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) will disappear on Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) while Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) locks lips with Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) surrenders to more drugs. On Cane’s train, Lily will get him settled in after his procedure and tease him about being a whiny baby. However, Lily will also tell Cane not to be a hero and take pain pills if he needs them.

Cane will joke around with Lily as they recall her being the “queen of concern” when the kids were little. There’ll be some warm moments as Lily and Cane acknowledge that it’s nice to be on better terms with each other. Since Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore) needs Lily in New York, Cane will push her to head off on her trip and let him know how the transplant goes.

Lily will give Cane a grateful kiss before she leaves to get on the Winters jet. At a hotel in New York, Dr. Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A.

Fox) will let Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) and Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) know that Cane’s stem cells are on their way via courier. On Friday’s Y&R episode, Claire will end up bonding with Holden over their complicated family situations and will cry on his shoulder over missing her own father, Cole Howard (J. Eddie Peck).

After Holden and Claire share a kiss, she won’t want him to read too much into it. That said, Claire will feel like the more she gets to know the real Holden, the more she sees that he’s a good guy. Holden will suggest they should consider that kiss a step toward meaning more to each other, so Claire will accept that as they clink juice glasses.

In Matt’s suite, he’ll be dressed in some new clothes that aren’t really his style, but Phyllis will suggest he’ll fit in better with them. Phyllis will also bring breakfast and offer a pep talk, but she won’t want Matt leaving the room like he wants. Matt will complain about feeling cooped up and will wonder why Phyllis is helping him, but she’ll suggest she knows what it’s like to be down on her luck.

Now that Phyllis’ luck has turned around, she’ll claim she wants to pay it forward. At the GCAC bar, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) will fill Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) on Phyllis’ latest negotiation attempt, but he’ll doubt that Victor’s going to accept anything less than Matt AND Newman Enterprises.

Phyllis will make it clear that she’s not budging either when she joins Lauren and Michael, who’ll worry when Phyllis seemingly has empathy for Matt and his memory issues. Once Phyllis returns to Matt’s suite, she’ll face a new problem. There’ll be no answer at the door, so Phyllis will swipe a keycard off a housekeeping cart and let herself in.

Phyllis will look for Matt and call out for him, but he’ll have vanished from his room by then. In the park, Nick will buy fentanyl pills from a drug dealer (Chris Wenchell), so he’ll pop pills multiple times before rejoining Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) at the ranch. Although Victor and Adam will want to stand their ground on demanding Newman Enterprises back, Nick will think they’re blowing their best chance at getting to Matt.

Nick will want to find some other way to get the company back and just surrender to what Phyllis wants. Once Nick leaves, he’ll take matters into his own hands by cornering Phyllis at the athletic club. Nick will push Phyllis to hand Matt over to him right away and insist that he’ll make sure Christine Blair Romalotti (Lauralee Bell) drops the charges himself.
