General Hospital , Hot News , Soap Opera , Spoiler , Television General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is letting Ethan Lovett’s (Nathan Dean) negative view of Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) cloud his judgment when it comes to his brother. Sonny really needs to trust his own instincts since he believed in Ric’s turnaround until Ethan started getting inside his head. That said, we can’t entirely blame Sonny for being suspicious of Ric, who had a shady meeting with Ava Jerome (Maura West) and lied about it in the aftermath.

The problem is that Sonny’s jumping to conclusions about all that instead of just directly confronting Ric, who’d probably come clean about what’s really going on if Sonny pressed him on this. Instead, Sonny has been venting to ADA Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) and feels like Ric has blown his last chance at repairing their relationship. Let’s just hope Sonny doesn’t make some sinister move to retaliate against Ric without getting the whole story!

There’s probably a mostly innocent explanation for what Ric is actually up to. There’s a good chance it involves one simple thing: an art-related surprise for Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst). Ric approached Ava with some news that he thought would make her happy, so this may be about some sort of art sale.

Elizabeth is an artist who’d surely appreciate whatever Ric might be cooking up as a gift for her. Likewise, Ava would be pleased about the sale and certainly wouldn’t pass up the lucrative opportunity to help Ric make his grand gesture happen. Of course, Ric knows Sonny and Ava haven’t always gotten along.

Perhaps Ric just thinks it’s best not to tell Sonny that his ex-wife is helping him out with a romantic surprise for Elizabeth. It’s even possible that Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) currently owns whatever art piece Ric is trying to get his hands on. It might be something that’d be of sentimental value to Elizabeth based on the artist.

That would give Ric another reason to keep this quiet, but at least it’d be about art and not some horrible plot against Sonny! Then again, maybe Sidwell isn’t involved at all and Ethan just misread the situation when he thought Ric was giving him a message through Ava. Over the phone later, Ric asked if Ava talked to “him,” but that could’ve been a completely different man who happens to own this potential piece of artwork.

Regardless, we know Ric pitched the idea of a weekend getaway to Liz, who admitted Ric hadn’t been subtle about his Hudson Valley hints leading up to this. Elizabeth gladly accepted the invitation, so the getaway itself isn’t really a surprise since she was expecting Ric to ask her to go. That brings us to some GH May sweeps spoilers for Ric, which indicate that he’s got a romantic shocker in store for Elizabeth.

It seems likely that Ric’s working with Ava and will perhaps give Liz this amazing art gift during their getaway or after they get back. Will Sonny destroy his new bond with Ric over the confusion or realize he’s wrong before he can do serious damage? General Hospital spoilers suggest Ric and Sonny will have to do a better job of communicating and trusting each other in the future, so stay tuned to see what’s next for these siblings.
