Big Move to Flagstaff Left Some Sister Wives Annoyed with Kody Brown
If you recall, the extended family’s had more than one major move in their past. A decade ago, in 2011, the Sister Wives fled Utah in the middle of the night. That came after the state of Utah threatened to crack down on families living in plural marriages. While Nevada also has a bigamy law, it seems Kody Brown didn’t expect it to be enforced on them in Las Vegas.
After they relocated to a cul-de-sac in Sin City and dwelled in four separate houses, Kody filed a lawsuit against Utah on behalf of him and his Sister Wives. They filed in federal court challenging Utah’s bigamy law. You may know that Kody Brown only has one legal wife — that’s Robyn Brown. His relationships with Meri, Christine, and Janelle are all spiritual marriages.

The lawsuit alleged that it’s unfair for Utah to prosecute families like the Browns where the husband is legally married to one wife but cohabitates with another. The Sister Wives sued for being singled out for their private lives. In 2021, the state decriminalized polygamy, opening the door for their return. But by then, they’d moved to Flagstaff, a move which didn’t sit well with Meri, in particular.
Coyote Pass Plan Versus Utah and RVs – Christine Brown & Janelle Brown’s Plans
Once in Flagstaff, the Sister Wives clan was far-flung. Back in Las Vegas, they lived as next-door neighbors so the kids could play together and the family could enjoy close relationships. That lasted for seven years before Kody decided Flagstaff was a better place for them. However, once in Arizona, they settled into a combination of rental and purchases properties, not near each other.
Initially, Meri was less than two miles from her Sister Wives hubby and Robyn. Janelle was less than five miles from them but 13 away from the first spouse. Christine was 12 miles from Janelle and almost nine miles from his last wife. Then, the game changed as rentals sold and they had to move around. Plus, Kody began pushing for a large communal home on property he bought at Coyote Pass.
Four Wives, One House?
That plan was intolerable to three of the four Sister Wives with Janelle Brown the only one that seemed interested as Soap Dirt covered. Christine told Kody she’d never live with the other brides again. Instead, she wanted to move back to Utah since the law changed and she had lots of family there. And this Summer, Janelle clung to Coyote Pass, settling there in an RV until the weather turned cold.
Where do Sister Wives Live in 2021 – Kody, Robyn Brown & Meri Brown Nearby
So where do Kody, Robyn, Christine, Janelle, and Meri live now? It seems a given that Kody Brown’s living full time with Robyn Brown at her Flagstaff home. That was also where he spend the lockdown, which displeased his other Sister Wives and many of his children. As for Christine Brown, she left Kody, calls them divorced, and moved to a duplex in Murray, Utah.

What about Meri Brown? She spent most of the last season of Sister Wives trying to get closer to Kody while many fans rooted for her to leave him. Now, she divides her time between Flagstaff and her B&B, Lizzie’s Heritage Inn, in Parowan, Utah. So, what about Janelle? After summering at the family property, she packed her bags too. She’s spent time in Utah with Christine.
Those two Sister Wives are running a health and fitness business together, along with Maddie Brown Brush. For now, Janelle’s been with her daughter in North Carolina and it seems like she plans to be there through year-end. However, Janelle took the time to meet up with Gabe and Garrison in late November. She’s not been seen in photos with Kody in a while.
So, it seems only one of the Sister Wives is full-time with husband Kody Brown in Arizona — that’s Robyn Brown, not surprisingly. What’s more surprising is that Meri Brown’s still coming around and is at least part-time in AZ. Christine Brown seems happy carving out her new single life a state away in Utah. Meanwhile, Janelle Brown strayed the farthest and is across the country from the rest.
