The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Thursday, January 29, reveals that Nikki Newman (Melody Scott Thomas) will approve the Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) abduction plot on one condition. Nikki will be clear about where she stands, so here’s what viewers will see next.

At Society, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) will push Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) to tell her what Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is planning, so he’ll finally confess that Victor wants to use Lily and the twins as leverage against Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn).

Chelsea will be aghast at the idea of kidnapping Lily, Mattie Ashby (last played by Lexie Stevenson) and Charlie Ashby (Noah Alexander Gerry) as a bargaining chip, but Adam will insist they’d never actually be in harm’s way.

This would just be about making Cane believe Lily and the twins were in jeopardy.

That way, Cane might be inclined to give up the Newman empire he stole.

Chelsea will admit Cane’s family is his Achilles’ heel and acknowledge that the plan could work.

However, it’d be tricky to completely isolate Lily and the twins without frightening them.

At the Newman ranch, Nikki will have a visit with Claire Newman (Hayley Erin), so they’ll discuss all the Newman drama before talk turns to Claire’s love life.

Claire will admit Holden Novak’s (Nathan Owens) mysterious past with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) is a problem.

Since Claire doesn’t trust Audra, it’ll be hard for her to trust Holden due to his Audra connection and whatever they’re hiding.

Claire will also give Nikki updates on Harrison Abbott’s (Redding Munsell) matchmaking game, so Nikki will see how she lights up discussing it.

That’ll leave Nikki wondering if Harrison is the reason why or if this is about Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) instead.

Claire will feel like Kyle’s made it clear that he can’t keep waiting for a commitment.

Even so, Nikki will have faith that if Kyle and Claire are meant to be, they’ll find their way back to each other.

At the Abbott house, Kyle will fill Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) in on Harrison playing Cupid.

Diane will wonder if there’s still hope for Kyle and Claire, so he’ll admit he wouldn’t turn down a second chance if the stars aligned.

That said, Kyle will feel like it’d have to happen organically.

After everything that’s gone down, Kyle will have learned his lesson about trying to force things with Claire.

Although Kyle will acknowledge that he loves Claire and perhaps always will, he’ll worry that she wants something he can’t give her.

Kyle will reflect on how he wants stability at this point in his life, so he can’t offer the same sense of adventure as Holden.

Diane will feel like Claire’s chasing after something that’s going to feel hollow in the end.

Later, Kyle will bump into Claire at Crimson Lights and impress her by remembering her favorite scone.

Claire will eventually question whether Kyle thinks Victor’s getting payback for all his transgressions over the years.

Kyle will respect the love that Claire and Victor have for each other.

Even so, Kyle will think it’s best if they agree to disagree on Victor, so Claire will take the Newman-Abbott feud topic off the table.

After Claire invites Kyle to have dinner with her, he’ll smile and accept the invitation.

Back at the Newman ranch, Nikki will quiz Adam and Chelsea about Victor’s next move.

Adam won’t want to go against Victor’s wishes and divulge his pop’s plan despite already blabbing to Chelsea.

It’ll be Chelsea who spills to Nikki instead, so Nikki will be alarmed over Victor wanting to abduct Lily, Mattie and Charlie.

Chelsea will argue that it’d just be the appearance of an abduction as they mull over how to do this without scaring Lily or the twins.

For this leverage scheme to work, Lily, Mattie and Charlie would have to be completely off the grid.

Nikki will insist she knows what to do and will agree to the plot on one condition.

“We convince Lily this is how to right Cane’s wrongs. We have to bring her into the plan,” Nikki will declare on Thursday’s Y&R episode.
