The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers hint that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) may have a pain med addiction story coming up. Will Nick’s crash recovery take a heartbreaking turn?

Nick suffered a terrible leg break after Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) forced him to veer off the road.

After Nick’s doctor offered updates on his fractured left fibula, he was prepped and taken to the OR for surgery.

Nick thankfully pulled through that procedure and seemed fine when he first woke up in the January 9 episode.

However, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) got a shock after Nick was suddenly hit with a wave of severe pain.

Nick gripped his leg and told Sharon to go get the nurse since he assumed he needed his pain meds upped.

Of course, it’s possible Nick’s dealing a worse injury than his doctor previously thought.

There could be some new diagnosis coming up that’ll point to something more severe.

That said, it’s also possible Nick just provided a big clue about where his storyline is headed next.

Since Nick was clearly desperate for more painkillers, could an addiction storyline be in the works?

Back when Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) came to town and targeted the Newmans, she helped Jordan (Colleen Zenk) shove Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) off the wagon.

The sobriety difficulties that followed became part of the fallout for Nikki.

Now Nick could be facing a similar situation where this Matt crisis leads to some unexpected consequences.

The Matt drama led to the crash that could lead to Nick’s pain med addiction, which could blow up his entire life.

In other words, Y&R could be delivering a chain reaction that started with Matt’s return and ends with Nick needing serious help.

Sharon could ultimately be the one to discover Nick’s problem if the show’s indeed going to take this painkiller addiction route.

Whatever the case, Nick’s in more pain than he should be right now, so stay tuned for any alarming news to come.
