The Young and the Restless Fans Talk About the New Cane
The Young and the Restless spoilers suggest that as the “new” Cane Ashby, played by soap veteran Billy Flynn, continues to get his feet wet on the CBS soap, there are some mixed reactions from fans.
From a recast perspective, Billy Flynn and OG Cane Ashby, Daniel Goddard (who played the role from 2007-2019) couldn’t be more different.
From their looks, height, and even that accent, Flynn seemed to place his own interpretation on the character.
Some fans love it, and some disapprove, but the fact of the matter is, time can change a man and his goals in life.
While it’s only been six years since Cane interacted with his friends from Genoa City, so much has changed for him.
From losing his dad, Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers), to attaining an abundant amount of wealth, it’s no wonder that Cane has altered his attitude since the last time Y&R viewers saw him.
In fact, Christel Khalil (Lily Winters), who plays Cane’s onscreen ex, recently gave her two cents on his return and ‘Aristotle Dumas’ reveal stating that the show isn’t trying to have Flynn ‘step in’ Goddard’s shoes but rather present a new character with some ‘history’ on the canvas.
She goes on to say, “At the end of the day, it’s not going to be the same Cane. It’s a completely different person.”
Khalil adds that she hopes Y&R audiences give Flynn a genuine chance, encouraging fans to try to “… look at the character through new eyes, because it is a new person, and honestly, it’s a new character.”
Many fans like the change in Cane, and they also might be Days of Our Lives audiences, where Flynn played the ever-popular Chad DiMera from 2014 to now.
Then again, many viewers are just intrigued with the storyline that’s brought Cane back. Now that Cane has been revealed as Dumas, there seem to be many more questions than answers.
How did Cane attain his vast wealth in such a short time? Why did he keep it a secret? Did he partake in illegal activities to get where he is today?
What are his plans for Genoa City, and why has he bought so many buildings within the little town? Will he find a way to snatch Chancellor out from under the Newmans? And so on, and so on!
The Young and the Restless spoilers state that love it or hate, fans will have to learn to accept that Flynn is the new Cane Ashby, as it doesn’t appear he’s going anywhere, anytime soon!
