‘Sister Wives’: Cruel Start for Janelle Brown – What They Expected From Wife
Sister Wives star Janelle Brown appeared to fill a need when she first wed Kody Brown but after realizing this, it seems she didn’t like it. What fans got to know about the past dynamics of the Sister Wives adults doesn’t fall under normal family life. But this is what Kody Brown originally set out to prove with this TLC series.
Sister Wives: Janelle Brown – And Then There Were Two Brides
Before Kody Brown, Janelle was Meri Brown’s sister-in-law. But her marriage to Meri’s brother Adam Barber only lasted for two years. From 1988 to 1990 Janelle endured a tumultuous relationship with her first husband. So it stands to reason she knew both Meri and her husband Kody well.

Around the same time Kody just started to court Janelle Brown, Kody’s father, Winn Brown courted Janelle’s mom, Sheryl Usher. Their parents married around the same time Kody took Janelle as his second wife. So to say everyone knew a little bit about each other is an understatement.
So, when Kody and Meri decided to bring Janelle into their family which became the future famous Sister Wives, she was thrilled. But married life with a man who already had one wife was not at all what she imagined.
Two Is Company – Three Is A Crowd
Moving in with a man and his wife is just what Janelle did. The adjustment for both women had to be horrendous. But as Janelle describes it, she wasn’t sure how she fit in with this Sister Wives scenario.
The house was Meri’s house. Not that she owned it, she ran it her way for the first years when it was just Meri and Kody. But, it was Meri’s kitchen and things were done Meri’s way. When Janelle tried to do her share of housework, Meri found fault with the way she did it, according to the second wife of Kody Brown.
I want to thank you and your sister wife’s for opening me up to understand your lifestyle. So please say thank you to everyone for me.

Back when Janelle first joined Meri and their shared husband Kody, everyone worked. Kody Brown’s job would sometimes take him away from home for days at a time. While both Meri and Janelle worked, Meri would take the time off and not get paid for it to go with him. Janelle stayed behind and worked.
It seemed after a while she wondered what she was there for. She questioned if Kody loved her. She also shared how Meri sometimes ridiculed her.
Jump ahead a Few Decades…
Neither Meri nor Janelle gave the impression that they were good friends on the Sister Wives series. At one point they admitted they could not travel in the same car together. But fans didn’t get to see how the foundation was built for all this animosity.
It seems the first few years of Janelle Brown’s marriage left her tainted. She said at one point Meri Brown threw a fit because Janelle Brown folded the laundry wrong. Everything Janelle did was wrong in Meri’s eyes, said Kody’s second wife. She did things differently than Meri. But to Meri, she looked at as wrong.
Granted it had to be a tough learning curve for both of the two women married to the same man. Janelle said it got better once Christine came aboard. Meri became distracted with the new wife, Christine Brown. This took a lot of stress off Janelle Brown.

It sounds as if the start of Janelle Brown’s journey with the Sister Wives family came along with some hardship. It almost sounded cruel at times for the woman who would go on to give Kody Brown six children. Feeling like a guest who overstayed their welcome is not someplace anyone would want to call their home.
Janelle Brown seemed to have the toughest time with Meri Brown. While she probably had her ups and downs with Christine Brown and Robyn Brown, it sounds like Meri became that thorn in her side. So, having her own home must do wonders for living a peaceful life while sharing her husband with her co-wives.
