Nina confronts Roy in Coronation Street as he hides new mystery secret

Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) grows concerned about her uncle Roy Cropper (David Neilson) in Coronation Street soon, as it becomes apparent he is hiding a secret.

Roy’s life changed last year when he became the number one suspect for Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) murder.

Due to the fact Roy had interacted with Lauren and was also seen cleaning her flat, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) eventually felt that she had compiled enough evidence to arrest him.

With Roy’s trademark honesty, under police questioning he only got himself deeper and deeper into hot water as every innocent action looked in hindsight like the behaviour of a guilty man. His prison experience was horrific, as he was attacked in his cell.

When Lauren was found alive, Roy was released. It was revealed that Lauren had been groomed by a solicitor called Joel Deering (Calum Lill), and was attacked by him prior to her running away.

One person who is always on hand to support Roy is niece Nina, who entered his life in 2019 after Roy began playing online scrabble with Nina’s dad and his half-brother.

Richard died, and Nina moved into Roy’s flat shortly after.

Over the years, the duo have continuously ensured they have time for each other. Roy was there for Nina in the aftermath of her and Seb’s attack, and Nina stood by Roy’s side as he readjusted to life on the cobbles after time in prison.

In upcoming episodes, Nina’s worry for Roy starts to grow again as she realises he has become oddly fixated on waiting for the postie to arrive with his mail.

She outright asks what his big secret is, but what will Roy say?

Later in the week, Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) installs a library box in the café for Roy as he continues his secret letting writing.
