Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) and Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) have become a pretty solid couple in Emmerdale. They have faced a great deal of drama personally and together, but still seem to stick by each other and come out stronger the other end.

A rarity in soapland really.

Liam and Chas realised they had a romantic connection in 2023, but things didn’t really go very far as Chas was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after. She was grateful for Liam’s support during this process, but kept him as a friend.

The arrival of Ella Forster (Paula Lane) led to Liam beginning a relationship with her. They got on well, but he couldn’t get Chas out of his head. It ultimately led to Liam dumping Ella for Chas.

In February of this year, Liam decided to propose. The romantic gesture took place in a limo that was being driven by Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins). Moments later, she was forced to swerve to avoid hitting a drugged Noah Dingle (Jack Downham), and ended up crashing the vehicle onto a frozen lake.

Among other residents, Liam and Chas were forced to carefully make their way over the ice. The life threatening situation made both Liam and Chas realise just how much they loved each other.

They are now engaged, but the drama that comes with living in the village has meant the wedding hasn’t been planned just yet.

In upcoming episodes, Liam and Chas sit down and chat.

It becomes apparent they are both hiding secrets but just as they go to confide in each other, they opt to keep them to themselves.

It’s not particularly clear what secrets Liam and Chas are thinking about, but we do know that Chas is aware Ross Barton (Michael Parr) is the father of Charity Dingle’s (Emma Atkins) baby, while Liam knows criminal Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) isn’t as poorly as he’s making out.

What will keeping these secrets do to the trust within Liam and Chas’ dynamic?
