ITV Coronation Street return ‘sealed’ for Aidan Connor after 7 years
Coronation Street viewers are speculating that Aidan Connor could be making a comeback.
Aidan (played by Shayne Ward) first appeared on the ITV soap in 2015, introduced as Carla Connor’s (Alison King) half-brother and Johnny Connor’s (Richard Hawley) son.
It’s safe to say that Aidan quickly became a fan favourite. The boss of Underworld Factory was involved in several major storylines over the years, including his numerous unsuccessful romances.

In 2017, he began an affair with Maria (Samia Longchambon) while engaged to Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley). In true soap opera style, the truth eventually emerged, resulting in a catfight between Maria and Eva at the wedding.
However, in 2018, Aidan began to secretly battle depression and suicidal thoughts. This led to him tragically taking his own life later that year, reports the Daily Star.
Aidan’s death had a profound impact on his loved ones, particularly Eva who had recently given birth to their daughter, Susie. Recently though, Eva made a surprising return to the street after nearly a decade.
Along with Eva’s return to the cobbles, she brought along Susie and her new family: partner Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker), his mum Maggie (Pauline McLynn) and his two sons Ollie (Raphael Akuwudike) and Will (Lucas Hodgson-Wale).

However, now that Eva has returned to the programme, viewers are speculating whether Aidan Connor might make a comeback through a hallucination sequence. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer commented: “Now that Eva is back maybe Aidan could come back as a hallucination at some point.”
Another contributed: “They’ve done it before so never say never.” A third concurred: “Aw I’d so love that!”. Sharing similar sentiments, someone else remarked: “I’ve been thinking that as well.”

Meanwhile, earlier this year, the actor who portrayed Aidan suggested a possible return to the cobbles following his character’s heartbreaking exit.
Speaking about his Weatherfield legacy as Aidan, Shayne commented: “I loved it. I was very honoured that I was trusted with that incredible suicide storyline for mental health for men. I’m really proud of it.” The performer also disclosed that he yearns for his time on the programme, frequently contemplating a return to Weatherfield.

“There’s times when I’m thinking what I’d give to walk on those cobbles again, which I probably will do with my kids to show them what it feels like to walk on the cobbles, the famous ones,” he revealed.
“But I had a great time, and I learnt from some of the best on there, so very lucky guy.”
