In tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy episode, Winston had Jo on the operating table. She went into labor early. She developed complications. She needed to be rushed into surgery and her babies were delivered via C-section. Something went wrong during the surgery. Jo began to code. The doctors fought to get her back.

They were rewarded with her coming back to life, but she was intubated and there’s no telling when she’ll wake. Link’s mind went to the worst possible scenario. He was told that Jo might need a heart transplant if the current device doesn’t do its job. And Link was a doctor himself so he knew that people wait years on a transplant list.

What happens to Jo during that time? Link had to make decisions. He asked to be alone with his wife. He was going through scenarios when a trauma came in. Graham tried to propose to his girlfriend.

He got his pilot’s license. He borrowed a friend’s uncle’s plane. He was skywriting to his girlfriend so that she could see it from work when suddenly something happened in the air. His plane went down before he could finish skywriting. It turns out that Graham didn’t have experience with flying loops. The plane might have gotten away from him.

There was reason to hope because he arrived at the hospital still alive. His best friend was mere minutes after him. He was there for Graham and Graham had one request before he was intubated.

He asked him to call Fiona. She was the girlfriend. She also might have seen the start of the message and thought he changed his mind. Graham needed Fiona to know how important she was to him. The interns were mostly annoyed that they couldn’t all work Graham’s case. Jules was on it while Kwon and Simone were on stints all day as a punishment for showing up late.

Lucas was given a very special task by Bailey. He was driving her favorite patient to get her clinical trial medicine. He wanted to know why a medical transport couldn’t take her. Only Katie has been through a lot. She was supposed to receive the medicine at their hospital except what got shipped in was expired.

Bailey then left it to Lucas to fix and he found out that someone with her same markers hadn’t taken their medicine at a nearby hospital, but leave it to Lucas to somewhat screw up. He didn’t take the highway because GPS said it was blocked. He took side roads and the car died on the way there.

They could be on those side roads for hours. Katie won’t get her medicine or worst they’ll be given to someone else. Leaving her to wait another week to see if she could survive Stage 4 cancer.

All because Lucas didn’t want to wait on the official highway. The one has ambulances. The one that has police there to assist. They were stuck. Katie was questioning if it was a sign. Her two best friends decided to give her space when she didn’t ask for it. They essentially ghosted her. She was alone and dying.

Katie that’s probably what happened to the person that was supposed to take the medicine. Lucas tried to suggest that maybe the person decided to opt out because of the side-effects.

Katie said it was either death or sickness. No one would choose sickness for months if the result was death. They were talking about everything. How Katie feels like no one understands her because being a doctor wasn’t the same as having cancer. Katie’s life sucks right now. She needed to vet to someone and Lucas was that lucky someone.

They managed to get back on the road. They made it to the hospital. Lucas chose to stay by her side during treatment. They watched romcoms. Back at the hospital, it wasn’t just Jo in danger.

Her babies weren’t doing too well. They had to sedate Baby B because she was having problems with her heart. Link couldn’t be with the twins all the time because he also needed to check on Jo. Teddy offered to stay with the twins and she didn’t tell him right away that one of them was going on a vent. He freaked. He was very snitty to Teddy. And asked her to leave.

Teddy came back after Link stayed away. She stayed with the twins. Link came back and apologized for his behavior earlier. He was falling apart and he knew he shouldn’t have taken it out on his friends.

They were all being supportive of him and his family. Bailey had a panic attack when she saw how bad off Jo was. Bailey was also worried about Richard. She later drew his blood for a new round of tests. Graham’s girlfriend arrived at the hospital. She saw his best friend and blamed him for this. Graham later died. And that left everyone sad.

Jo was recovering. Link was with her while Ben checked on the twins for him. Her husband talking to her had helped because Jo opened her eyes tonight.

Own and Nora broke up, but he didn’t tell Teddy because he didn’t want to fall back into unhealthy patterns and so now she’s free to do an interview with Nora without the weirdness.
