General Hospital‘s Frank Valentini Talks Steve Burton’s GH Exit But Does NOT Confirm Jason‘s Return
General Hospital spoilers imply that the show’s Executive Producer, Frank Valentini, recently admitted Steve Burton’s exit from the soap; however, he did not confirm Jason Morgan’s return.
GH fans have been in a tizzy about Burton’s exit since the actor announced his “short break” on Tuesday, February 10.
Burton hopped on Instagram, uploading a picture of himself on the daytime drama set.
The pic had a headline, which matched the post’s caption that stated, “Hey everyone, I wanted to share that I’ll be taking a short break from General Hospital.”
The caption noted that, as he was newly married, he was looking forward to quality time with his family. It also added, “I’m grateful for all the support and will be back this summer.”
Reports reveal that Burton has already wrapped up scenes on General Hospital, and as the daytime drama films weeks ahead of airing, GH fans should brace for Jason’s exit around the springtime.
Still, many GH actors leave the canvas here and there to take a break – looking at you, Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) and Genie Francis (Laura Collins) – but rarely announce it on social media.
This has caused many fans to wonder if there is more to this story than meets the eye. In an attempt to calm General Hospital viewers’ nerves, Valentini released a statement to TV Insider.
In it, he relays, “We love Steve, and I am glad the show worked it out so he can get some personal time with his family.”
Valentini went on to say, “We have some great Jason story leading up to spring and look forward to his return in the summer.”
It’s important to note that nowhere within Valentini’s statement does he confirm that Burton is 100% returning and has a contract.
In some ways, the soap’s exec is reiterating how much the show loves Burton and has opened the door for a summer return, with storylines in hand.
Still, will that be the outcome when all is said and done?
General Hospital fans may recall that when Burton returned to GH in 2024, he was open about his next new chapter on the soap.
Back then, Burton had stated that he wasn’t implying he was retiring; however, he felt as if he had “two to three years left in acting”, so he could do other things.
In addition, Burton only signed a two-year contract with the ABC daytime drama back then.
It was around this time, two years ago, that Burton began filming at General Hospital again for Jason’s (then) explosive return.
Does Burton have a current contract with the soap opera? Is his ‘break’ coinciding with contract negotiations?
General Hospital spoilers remind fans that Jason Morgan isn’t only a pivotal player in Port Charles storylines, he’s a top fan favorite on GH, and one of the biggest soap stars across the industry, today – so if the ABC soap loses him, they might be left scrambling.
