General Hospital Friday, December 5 Recap: Esme & Cyrus Return to Haunt Laura – Fugitive Valentin Ambushes Carly
General Hospital (GH) recap for Friday, December 5, reveals that Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) and Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) returned to haunt Laura Collins (Genie Francis) while fugitive Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) ambushed Carly Spencer (Laura Wright).
At Carly’s house, she worked to downplay Jack Brennan’s (Chris Kenna) concerns and keep up her fake romance charade. Carly also brought Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) some Thanksgiving pie at GH and tried to make amends, but he needed time and space.
Later, Carly heard a noise at home and grabbed a fireplace poker to protect herself. After the intruder popped up, Carly nearly hit him before realizing it was Valentin who had broken in.
Valentin looked roughed up as he smiled and said he told Carly that he’d be in touch.
At their apartment, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) heard Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) enter and turned on the light. Josslyn wound up venting to Trina about Carly’s romance with Brennan and S. Vaughn (Bryce Durfee) ghosting her before she got a message from her boss.
After Josslyn claimed she was going to spend the night at Carly’s place, she headed out. Kai Taylor (Jens Austin Astrup) emerged from the bedroom and had a supportive cuddle session with Trina on the sofa.
Meanwhile, Josslyn headed to Brennan’s office, where he scolded her since he knew she was the one who broke protocol and gave the second lab address to Emma Scorpio-Drake (Braedyn Bruner).
There was some talk about the WSB’s plan to acquire the lethal technology Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) wanted, so Josslyn seemed concerned over their plans for it.
Josslyn also got a lecture over her continued romance with Vaughn and learned he’d been shipped far away.
Brennan and Josslyn bickered over his relationship with Carly before he got a phone call that left him rattled, so that was no doubt about Valentin’s escape.
At Laura’s place, she had a nightmare that involved Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) visiting her and handing over the murder weapon as a gift. Cyrus advised Laura to turn herself in and played up how alike they were.
Esme also made an appearance in Laura’s bad dream and ranted about how much Laura had taken from her.
Laura grew alarmed when Esme noted that Ace Cassadine (Kieran and Karis Barry) wasn’t in his room, but Esme insisted she wasn’t going to hurt him. This was about protecting Ace since Esme felt Laura wasn’t fit to raise her child.
Laura woke up startled and eventually gave Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) news on Jenz Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) visit along with the blackmail drama.
After Laura mentioned her nightmare and considered turning herself in, she ultimately decided she couldn’t since she’d drag Sonny down with her. Laura worried about what was next for Sonny since she knew Sidwell’s demands would be far worse for him.
At Sonny’s house, Sidwell showed up for a late-night visit and insisted this was a matter of urgency. Once Sidwell showed Sonny one of the incriminating photos, he made it clear that he wanted the piers and implied more demands would follow.
If any harm befell Sidwell or Marco Rios (Adrian Anchondo), Sidwell warned that the cops would be sent the pics along with the gun used to kill Dalton, which was covered in Laura’s DNA.
Sidwell felt confident that Sonny wouldn’t leave the country and bail on Laura since they were both loyal to each other.
Shortly after Sidwell exited, Laura called with updates for Sonny. After Sonny admitted he already knew since he just got a visit from Sidwell, Laura wondered what they were going to do.
Sonny assured Laura that they were going to figure it out, so stay tuned to see how he might regain control of the situation.
