An Emmerdale couple could be heading for a shock reconciliation,

Fans of Emmerdale believe that a beloved couple are set to rekindle their romance, just months after their messy split.

ITV soap viewers will know that Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) married Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) back in 2022. The ceremony was memorably interrupted by serial killer Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu), who took the couple hostage and shot Billy.

After recovering from the events of their wedding day, Dawn and Billy have since adopted Dawn’s son, Lucas (Noah Ryan Aspinall), and taken in Clemmie Reed (Mabel Addison). The pair later welcomed their own son, Evan (Malachi McKenzie), in December 2023.

Tragedy soon struck when baby Evan was diagnosed with leukaemia. The financial and emotional strain of Evan’s treatment forced Billy into illegal bare-knuckle boxing to pay for medical costs, leading to the fracture of his marriage to Dawn.

Dawn soon began having an affair with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), not long after his return to the village. Once he found out about the infidelity, a devastated Billy moved out of Home Farm to start afresh.

Joe has since proposed to Dawn, with the couple happily co-parenting Dawn’s three children. They have also recently warmed to the idea of having their own child together.

During Friday’s (February 20) episode, Dawn received a conditional court order, meaning she could divorce Billy. “The next step is to talk to Billy, which won’t be fun for either of us,” she told her stepmum, Kim (Claire King).

Later, Dawn met up with Billy at The Woolpack to discuss their options going forward. “What are we going to tell the kids?” Dawn asked.

“Well, they already know what’s happening, don’t they, so no need to keep harping on about it,” Billy replied, before confirming the news that Evan’s cancer treatment is working.

Dawn noted: “I think we should tell them together, it’s pretty monumental news, isn’t it?”

Despite Dawn and Billy reaching ever closer to a finalised divorce, some Emmerdale fans believe a shock could be in store, with the former couple potentially rekindling their romance behind Joe’s back.

“Is it just me that wants Dawn and Billy to get back together?” one person wrote on a Facebook fan page, with another adding: “Yesss I’d love for her to do what she did to Billy, but to Joe instead.”

A third said: “This would be such a twist that no one would see coming.. I’m here for it,” with another viewer similarly sharing: “I always loved Dawn and Billy before she cheated. Hopefully they won’t go through with the divorce. Joe needs the karma tbh.”
