Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) and Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) have been at each other’s throats in Coronation Street practically since they set eyes on each other, possibly because they’re very similar people – tough, feisty, selfish and blunt.
When Cassie started drugging Tracy’s dad, Ken (William Roache), she crossed a line. When it looked like Ken didn’t need her to be his carer any more, Cassie made sure he did need her by adding a little extra to his tea in the form of the kind of antihistamines that make you drowsy. And while Ken drowsed, Cassie did quite a bit of online shopping with his credit card, and not everything was for him.
This would be enough to make Tracy hate Cassie, but then Cassie started going out with Tracy’s ex, Steve (Simon Gregson), and it seemed that her previous transgressions were quickly forgiven.
Only not by Tracy, who is not the forgive and forget type. Especially not when Cassie so much enjoys winding her up.
The two have been waging war against each other for a few weeks now. When Steve offered Cassie some shifts in the cab office, Tracy soon found a way to sabotage her by unplugging the switchboard, ensuring a loss of business for StreetCars and humiliation for Cassie.
Tracy apologised after this, but only because she wanted Cassie to get Steve to take Preston’s Petals out of the divorce agreement. When Cassie realised she was being played, she was ready to get back at Tracy.
She saw an opportunity when she got home to number 1 and found Tracy asleep after drinking one of Ken’s bottles of wine. Cassie started a very small fire on the dining table and then pretended she’d arrived just in time to stop Tracy’s carelessness causing a huge fire and putting Ken’s life at risk.

Dee-Dee Bailey has some huge news (Picture: ITV)
Fans were shocked to learn that Coronation Street favourite Channique Sterling-Brown would be leaving the show. The actress posted on Instagram in October to say that she’d just finished filming her final scenes as Dee-Dee Bailey, as she prepared to pursue new projects.
She wrote: ‘After three whirlwind years of Dee-Dee Bailey, I’ve decided to say farewell to the cobbles. Bittersweet to be saying goodbye, but I am so excited for pastures new and enjoying the end of playing Princess Diana and her many expressions.’
Dee-Dee has certainly had a dramatic time in her three years in Weatherfield. Coming into the show as the loveably ditsy but super-smart lawyer daughter of Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges), she soon became embroiled in a huge storyline when she started a relationship with Joel Deering (Calum Lill) – who turned out to be a vile abuser.
The Joel storyline came to its conclusion with the villain eventually being killed by Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), the young woman who’d been one of his victims.

Then Dee-Dee discovered she was pregnant with his child. After much soul-searching about whether to keep the baby or not, she eventually decided to have the child because its half sibling, Lauren’s son Frankie, needed a bone marrow transplant and Dee-Dee’s baby cold have been a donor.
The birth of baby Laila was traumatic for Dee-Dee, who was subjected to racism from the maternity ward staff and nearly died because her concerns weren’t taken seriously.
She decided to let her brother James (Jason Callender) adopt the baby, but realised that she couldn’t bear to be parted from her and took the decision to keep her. James was initially devastated, but eventually he and Dee-Dee agreed that they would co-parent the little girl.

Life has been looking much more settled for Dee-Dee recently after she embarked on a romantic relationship with Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike). Dee-Dee was initially wary of him after having had such a bad experience with Joel, but things have been going well and Dee-Dee was welcomed into Ollie’s family when his dad Ben (Aaron McCusker) and step-mum Eva (catherine Tyldesley) took over the running of the Rovers.
Sadly (for Ollie), Dee-Dee has just called time on their relationship. He knew that something was up when she refused to commit to them spending Christmas Day together. Ollie confided in James that he’d been dumped and said he was sure there was something more to it. James agreed that Dee-Dee had been behaving oddly recently.
Can’t wait for the next twist?
