Debbie breaks down in Coronation Street as evil Carl gets even more cruel

He just doesn’t stop (Picture: ITV)
Just when you thought Coronation Street’s Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) couldn’t sink any lower.
For a man who had an affair with his brother’s wife, that might seem like a tall over.
But lo and behold, Weatherfield’s sleaziest mechanic pulls it off again as he steps up his campaign of cruelty against his sister Debbie (Sue Devaney) by exploiting her dementia.
With Debbie returning to work at the Chariot Street hotel, Carl isn’t exactly relishing the prospect.
He already gaslighted our Deb into believing that she’d booked a holiday for herself and forgotten, just to try and get his oily mitts on the hotel bank account.

So when Tracy (Kate Ford) calls in with flowers for an event, the wickedest Webster spies another opportunity for sabotage by throwing his poor sister under the bus.
He tells Ronny (Vinta Morgan) that according to Debbie, they’ve already paid – only he can’t find any record of the invoice. Boo! Hiss!
Wit a fuming Tracey kicking off, Debbie breaks down in tears, distraught to think that her symptoms are getting worse.

And it looks like Carl’s evil scheme is coming to fruit when a worried Ronnie suggests she should give up work. Will Debbie agree?
Later that week, we know what Carl’s game is as he changes the password on the accounting system.
When a curious Ryan requests the new password, Carl refuses to share it and lays down the law; from now on finances are his domain.
Meanwhile, Debbie panics when an email confirms that she’s booked speak at an important event tomorrow.
