Triple Coronation Street exit twist as chilling police threat is issued

Becky Swain (Amy Cudden) has shown another glimpse of her dark side in Coronation Street, as it becomes more and more apparent that she isn’t a woman to be messed with.

Becky recently learnt that Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) new partner Carla Connor (Alison King) was heading to Ireland for a few weeks.

It served as a perfect opportunity for her to slip back into the Swain family unit as ever since her return, Lisa and Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) have kept her at arms length.

In the week, we were shown a small insight into the trio’s dynamic before Becky faked her death. Betsy was working on some coursework for college, and Becky and Lisa decided to help out.

They both had a lovely time, but the situation changed when Becky realised that Betsy had posted a video on social media of them all.

Because the gang Becky was hiding from is potentially looking for her now, going onto social media increased the chance of them finding her, but also putting Lisa and Betsy in danger. The youngster was quickly told to remove it, but the tense environment afterwards prompted Betsy to head out for the evening.

We learnt in tonight’s episode that Betsy actually ended up getting arrested. During her interview, the officer said that she refused to get arrested by bent copper Costello.

Betsy denied everything that happened, but when the officer mentioned her posts online about her hating the police, she responded ‘no comment’ to everything.

As Lisa sat in the station lobby waiting for news on her daughter, Becky was meeting with Costello. The copper told Becky that the social media video has put her at risk, and that she now needs to go to Spain to prevent things from escalating.

But with Becky now seeing a path back to the family she used to have, disappearing off to Spain all alone wasn’t an option. She told Costello that if he doesn’t assist in her plan, she will report him.

Becky told Costello to help her with persuading Lisa and Betsy to go to Spain with her. As far as she’s concerned, Carla is just a hurdle standing in the way of her happily ever after.

As the episode drew to a close, Becky reassured Lisa and told her that Betsy would soon be free, and she will be happy. Of course, the subtext was referencing the move overseas – but Becky knows she cannot run before she can walk.

As she works hard to remind Lisa of the life they used to have, will Becky’s plan be a success?

Will she draw Lisa away from Carla, and Weatherfield?

Coronation Street boss Kate Brooks has confirmed that Becky is set to go to extreme lengths to try and claim her family back, with big twists set to unfold as the plotline reaches a peak around Christmas.

‘I’m not going to pull any punches., she’s a bit of a villain. She’s come back and she knows what she wants!’ the former Emmerdale producer warned Metro. ‘She wants her family back. She wants to oust Carla from this very happy home life that she’s created.

‘So we are watching this story develop, and slowly we’ll start to peel away the layers of Becky and who she is and what she’s actually capable of. At the minute on screen, we’ve only really scratched the surface, but she is capable of many things.

‘The thing that she’s capable of doing the best is reminding Lisa of the life they had. They were together for a long time. They’ve got a child together. There’s that history between them. There’s that love there.’

‘There’s loads more to come. It’s a really exciting story. You don’t want to mess with Becky. She’s got her sights set on getting that family back. She’s clever and she’s wily. She stayed dead for, like, four years! She knows what she’s doing. She knows how to lie her way out of situations.

‘She also capitalises on the fact that Lisa’s still struggling to process this, and what she’s offering is a glimpse of the past and the life they had together.

“So yeah, there’s loads more to come. There’s loads of twists, there’s loads of turns, there’s loads of moments where you watch it and go: “Oh my God”. But ultimately, it’s a really enjoyable ride and it’s really exciting.’
