The Young and the Restless Wednesday, April 8 Recap: Lily NOT a Donor for Malcolm – Cane Rejects Phyllis’ Offer BY Heather Hughes on April 7, 2026 | Comments: Leave Comments Related : Recap , Soap Opera , Spoiler , Television , The Young and the Restless The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Wednesday, April 8, reveals that Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) will face some devastation while Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) turns down Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) proposition. At the athletic club, Lily will agree to keep Malcolm Winters’ (Shemar Moore) health news quiet until they find out if she’s a donor match. Malcolm will want Lily to promise she won’t blame herself if she can’t help like they’re hoping.
There’ll also be some talk about Malcolm’s medical team being in New York.
Malcolm will explain to Lily that he’ll be receiving treatment there and will mention Dr. Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A.
Fox) being someone he used to know years ago. Meanwhile, Phyllis will offer Cane the funding to create a new AI program and will even suggest he could be over her AI division.

Cane won’t like that idea since whatever he developed would be part of Summers Conglomerate, so he couldn’t use it against Phyllis.
Phyllis will argue Cane has nothing left and will try to convince him that she’s his best option. Cane will disagree and act like any friendship Phyllis offers is a trap. In the end, Cane will taunt Phyllis with the possibility of creating a new AI program, unleashing it on Phyllis’ company and giving Newman Enterprises back to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) just to watch her squirm.
Afterward on Wednesday’s Y&R episode, Cane will stop by Lily’s table and hope to put their conflict on hold since she looks troubled.
Once Cane wonders if this is about Malcolm and pushes Lily to open up, she’ll acknowledge that she needs to talk to someone. However, Lily will insist that person isn’t Cane, so he’ll take that as his cue to leave.
At Crimson Lights, Stephanie will admit to Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) that the man he thought was his father wasn’t related to him biologically. Stephanie met Dr.
Jerry Novak while she was pregnant with someone else’s child, so he agreed to raise the baby as his own.
Although Jerry and Stephanie had big plans to build a family together, he died of a heart attack when Holden was quite young. Holden will assume his bio dad is deceased too, but Stephanie will admit that’s not the case. Although Holden will be upset over Stephanie lying to him all this time, she’ll insist his biological father is a good man who needs Holden’s help.
Once Malcolm arrives, Stephanie will convince Holden to wait on the patio for a bit.
That’ll give Stephanie a chance to deliver a tough blow to Malcolm since she realized Lily isn’t a viable donor candidate due to her prior chemo and radiation treatment for cancer. Stephanie will hint about another match possibility before Holden pops up.
Although this isn’t how Stephanie wanted the truth to come out, she’ll feel like this is the way it has to be now. Stephanie will admit to Malcolm that Holden is his son and explain how she kept quiet about her pregnancy after she left town.
Since Malcolm had already moved on romantically, Stephanie didn’t want to stand in the way of that.
Plus, Stephanie met Jerry and found new love of her own, so they thought it was best to just raise Holden themselves. Malcolm will wonder why Stephanie didn’t reach out after Jerry died, so Stephanie will suggest that she kept finding reasons to delay her confession. Stephanie eventually found out that Malcolm supposedly died.
By the time Stephanie discovered that wasn’t true, she’d already grieved the loss of Malcolm and the relationship he could’ve had with Holden.
Holden and Malcolm will both be irritated with Stephanie, so she’ll suggest there’ll be time for them to bond over their anger later. There’ll be more important matters to discuss for Malcolm’s sake.
Holden will eventually realize he could be a donor match for Malcolm’s stem cells treatment, so he’ll scoff over being his “genetic jackpot.” The conversation will include some talk about Holden’s half-sister not being an option, so Holden will reel over having yet another family member he didn’t know about. Malcolm will know he needs to find Lily and break it to her that she can’t be a donor match after all.
Once Holden realizes he’s Lily’s half-brother, that’ll throw him for a loop.
Malcolm will understand this is a lot to burden Holden with, but he’ll wonder if Holden is willing to help him out. Back with Lily, she’ll call her doctor and face a crushing blow when she learns her cancer treatment prevents her from qualifying as a donor candidate. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Lily will still find a way to help Malcolm in the coming episodes, so stay tuned to watch her work her magic with Holden.
