The Young and the Restless Thursday, January 8 Recap: Jack Offers Prisoner Matt to Victor, Time to Make a Deal

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Thursday, January 8, reveals that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will offer prisoner Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and suggest it’s time to make a deal.

At the Abbott mansion, Jack will give Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) updates on his conversation with Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) and hope he can provide proof that Victor used the AI program to destroy Arabesque.

However, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will arrive with news regarding the bargaining chip they’ve been waiting for.

Thanks to Kyle, the Abbott security team has been following all Newman activity for a while now, so he’ll bring Jack and Diane up to speed.

Kyle will explain that a man from Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) past has been harassing them.

Since the man followed them from Los Angeles, Kyle will assume he had something to do with Noah Newman’s (Lucas Adams) accident.

After Kyle talks about the crash that the Abbott security guards witnessed, he’ll note that one guard called for help while another one followed the guy from LA.

Kyle will insist the security team did everything right before a couple guards drag Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) inside.

Jack will immediately recognize Matt and reel since he’s supposed to be dead.

Matt will argue that his name is “Mitch Bacall” and that he only came to Genoa City for his wife, but Jack obviously won’t buy that.

Once Jack gets Victor on the phone in Thursday’s Y&R episode, he’ll admit they have Matt Clark and suggest it’s time to make a deal.

At Crimson Lights, Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) will have an encounter with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) and admit he hasn’t told Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) the rest of the LA story yet.

Audra won’t get why Holden’s trying to score points with Claire when they could both land in prison.

There’ll be some talk about the guy who got his skull cracked open before he was buried in an unmarked grave.

At one point, Audra will also flash back to talking with Holden about the body in his trunk.

Audra will recall how Holden instructed her to hit up another bar and basically give herself an alibi.

Back in the present, Holden and Audra will clear the air.

Audra will acknowledge that she pushed Holden away when he first came to town because of their traumatic history.

In the end, Audra will agree to back off Claire, so Holden will agree to keep his mouth shut about the other LA details.

At home, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will admit to Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) that he overheard her talking to Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) about her fears.

Sally will be sorry she didn’t have that conversation with Billy and acknowledge how scared she is of everything they’ve built falling apart.

Billy will understand since he’s got a pattern of crashing out, but he’ll assure Sally that he’s got her back.

After Sally and Billy hit the sheets, they’ll decide to go dancing at the jazz lounge.

At the GCAC, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will find Cane sulking at the bar, so she’ll assume she’s looking at sad Cane and not “Aristotle Dumas.”

Cane will push Phyllis to leave him alone and make it clear that Dumas is gone.

Phyllis will insist she’s Cane’s only friend and will make it clear that she’s not going to abandon him.

Cane will end up eating at a nearby table and rant about relentless Phyllis when she sits down, too.

Phyllis will get Cane to admit Lily kissed him on New Year’s Eve and then shut the door on him by leaving town.

However, Phyllis won’t think Cane should be surprised since Lily is always judgmental and doesn’t cut him any slack.

Talk will turn to Phyllis’ hope for an alliance against Victor, so she’ll play up her Newman takeover plans as Billy appears and eavesdrops nearby.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Billy will inevitably want in on Victor’s downfall, so don’t miss the trouble ahead.
