Coronation Street’s new killer ‘confirmed’ – you won’t expect who it is

Father Ted’s Mrs Doyle joining Coronation Street as their next battleaxe with acerbic lines to match Blanche Hunt was a stroke of genius. But there’s more to Pauline McLynn’s Maggie Driscoll than meets the eye.
In fact, she is hiding a killer secret that’s set to be exposed in an upcoming flashback episode focusing on the new family.
Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) recently returned to the Street to take over the Rovers, only to discover monster-in-law Maggie had put the funds down and was claiming her rightful place at the helm.
What’s followed has been a number of snarky put downs between the feuding pair, although Maggie has shown a caring side in her support of fragile Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey).
But, after Pauline confirmed to Metro that there were some OMG moments ahead for her alter-ego, we didn’t expect the likes of this.
Apparently, Maggie has taken a life and all will be revealed in the special episode towards the end of the year.

But the circumstances leading up to it and as it plays out are a closely guarded secret for now.
So what drove Maggie to commit such an act – and was it all accidental or much worse?
A source told The Sun: ‘When viewers see whose death Maggie was behind, it will really send shockwaves through Weatherfield and life will never quite be the same again for her.
‘The killing happened prior to her moving into the Rovers Return with her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, and none of them will be aware of it.
‘But it will all come out in a bombshell storyline leading up to the festive season.’

Producer Kate Brooks recently promised us a Driscoll centric Christmas Day with plenty of laughs, community and joviality.
But with a deadly secret in the midst, this could be marred in a big way.
She said: ‘There’s loads going on Christmas Day. Christmas Day itself is a real family affair. And the Driscolls are very much at the heart of Christmas Day.
‘It’s a proper pub Christmas Day! It’s very community based, very lively. There’s loads going on. Secrets are exposed and whatnot. So it’s a real feel good episode with a lot of drama as well thrown to the mix.’
And it’s not just the Driscolls at the centre of the action as the year draws to a close, either!

Kate continued: ‘The stories we’ve got going which build to that, we’ve got Ronnie and Debbie, who are very keen to crack on with the wedding and lots of preparation for that, fun and games in terms of that.”
‘The other stories, which are really kicking off around about that time, we’ve got Carla, Lisa and Becky. That really goes up a gear around about Christmas time. There’s a few really big twists that will keep people hooked and keep people watching as they watch this all unfold.
‘With Todd and Theo, Christmas is often a time where there’s a lot of spikes in calls to the Samaritans and whatnot. We wanted to really show Todd and Theo’s journey in the lead and the build to Christmas. We’ve got a really special episode which is just focused primarily on their relationship.
