Variety announced the series, which comes from Chris Grant‘s Osmosis Global, which also described Saving Yellowstone as exploring “ongoing threats to the region, such as disease, drought, pollution, human encroachment and climate change, giving viewers an exclusive look at the majestic wild and insights from those working to fight for the survival of this extraordinary American landscape.”

For nearly 150 years, when people heard “Yellowstone,” they automatically thought about the iconic national park that is home to the geyser Old Faithful, though slowly yet surely since its premiere in 2018, Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone TV series has become a force to be reckoned with. The Kevin Costner-starring series had relatively humble beginnings on the Paramount Network, yet with each subsequent season, it grew in viewership. The series premiered with 2.8 million viewers, though by the time Season 4 premiered in 2021, it secured 12.7 million viewers.

The enthusiasm for the series grew so exponentially that the concept couldn’t be contained in one title. In 2021, the prequel series 1883 premiered, and then in 2022, the prequel series 1923 debuted. The flagship Yellowstone series may have wrapped up with Season 5 in 2024, but the franchise shows no signs of slowing, with Y: Marshals coming to CBS next year and four more spin-offs being in various stages of development.
