Kev in Emmerdale discovers the truth about Robert and Aaron
We’re going to say it. We feel the tiniest bit sad for Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) after tonight’s episode of Emmerdale.
The character was introduced to us as Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) secret husband earlier this year. A flashback instalment then allowed us to learn more about Robert and Kev’s connection, and how they turned from foes to lovers while behind bars.
Kev and Robert became each other’s support networks while in prison. Both characters were under the impression they would spend a huge portion of their lives behind bars, so created a new life together in an attempt to try and get through each day.
Things changed for Kev though when Robert told him about the possibility of an appeal. He feared losing Robert for good, and stabbed himself in a possessive twist.
Robert stayed in prison for a while longer with the appeal at the back of his mind, but chose to pursue it once Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) visited him and said that Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) needed him.

Ever since Kev has been in the village, Robert has made it clear to Aaron that he wants to be with him, but just didn’t know how to end things with Kev. This was because he knew he’d react badly, but was also keen to stay with Kev so he could get his large fortune after his death.
Living two lives was too difficult for Robert in the end though, so he dumped Kev and claimed that it was because he deserved someone better. He has continued to see Aaron in the aftermath of this, but on the down low.
Aaron spied a chance for things to change a couple of days ago though, when he learnt about Kev robbing the pawn shop.
He told Robert that all they needed to do was find the loot and then tell the police. Because Kev’s fingerprints would be all over the stolen items, he’d get sent back to prison.
Aaron found the loot hidden in the church, but did not consider that someone would prevent the plan from being a success. When Aaron and Robert discussed the idea with Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) and Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) was listening in on the conversation.

We discovered recently that Kev is Lewis’ biological father (Picture: ITV)
Due to the fact Nicola wants Kev to stay away from his biological son Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches), she realised the stolen items could be used in a blackmail plan.
Kev was arrested in tonight’s episode, but released due to the fact the police couldn’t find the loot.
When he returned home, Kev set about confronting Nicola, believing she was the person who shopped him to the police.
Nicola revealed her true intentions, telling Kev that she found the items in the church because she wants him to walk away with money in his pocket, and forget all about his son.
