‘Sister Wives’: Kody Put Screeching Halt to Meri’s Matriarch Days
Sister Wives star Meri Brown makes no secret about wanting Kody Brown back in her bedroom. She’s even teased him a few times on the show but to no avail.
Unlike the other wives, Meri played an odd role in Kody’s life over the past few decades. This all started when she was still only a teenager. She was even younger than some of the Sister Wives kids today.
Sister Wives: Meri Brown Offers Something Special to Kody Brown?
When you think about the marriage of Kody Brown and Meri Brown, it seems different than his other three. Meri seemed to act like the family’s matriarch when it came time to bring on more wives.
In the past, she talked about her role as Kody’s wife. Plus, she was very open about her part in bringing the women into the family.
Sister Wives: Kody Brown – Meri Brown
The Sister Wives fans were privy to Robyn Brown entering this plural marriage. But the other wives were there long before the TLC series rolled out.
So, viewers didn’t witness how their courting worked out or how their wedding days unfolded. But much like what Meri Brown did for his number four wife, Robyn, she did for the other wives as well. She worked with Kody to get them ready to join this marriage.
It seems she also did this for another woman who backed out of joining the Brown tribe. The pending bride did this only a week or two before she was slated to wed Kody.
Before Janelle came on board, this young woman was slated to be wife number two. It seemed Meri helped get the women ready to join the family. But just a few weeks before the wedding, she backed out.
Meri Paves the Way for Kody
Meri said she loved her husband the day she married him, and she still does to this day. His first wife claims he’s the only man for her. Kody Brown claims to love all his wives. Although this comes with a “but” following that statement.
Kody’s love for three of the women he married no longer comes via romance. The Sister Wives’ husband changed his tune. He cut off intimacy with at least two women, Meri and Christine Brown. Fans assume it’s the same for Janelle Brown as well.
Sister Wives: Kody Brown – Meri Brown
Janelle doesn’t air the dirty laundry when it comes to her relationship with Kody. But Christine and Meri did during the last year. Robyn Brown also keeps her thoughts under wraps. This is something she seems to have in common with Janelle.
Fans learned from the Sister Wives patriarch that he loves the women he married. But it sounded more like in a way one might love a sister or a best friend.
As the Sister Wives’ son Paedon Brown put it, his father found the woman he loves. So, he can’t fault him for falling in love with Robyn Brown.
But before Kody Brown’s marriages crumbled, he was a man loving the idea of a house full of wives. And Meri Brown pretty much made that happen for him over the last few decades.
Sister Wives: Appeasing Papa Brown?
In a traditional marriage, a wife doesn’t look for compatible women to become another wife to their husband. But in a plural marriage, a lot goes into bringing a new wife on board.
Or at least it looked that way in the Sister Wives household. Meri wrote about her role early on in this plural marriage. So did Christine Brown and Janelle Brown.
Sister Wives: Kody Brown – Meri Brown
She made sure they were a good fit for her husband. Then they had to fit in with the rest of the family as well. In an early Sister Wives season, Kody Brown and his first wife met a woman.
Meri thought she could be another good add-on to the family. She would have been number five if he followed Meri’s lead.
Kody Brown joked about it. But he finally fessed up that Meri used the same strategy with this woman that she did with Robyn. She kept mentioning how cute she was. Nothing ever came of it, but it caught the fans’ attention at the time.
Sister Wives: Bringing on an Ally
It was very important to Meri Brown that she got along with wife number four. Up until the time Robyn joined them, it was as if Janelle and Christine joined forces.
But from what they say about the way wife number one treated them, you might understand why. Even Meri agreed she was a bit tough at times on Kody’s other wives back then. But Robyn seemed to immediately become her friend as she helped ease her into the family.
So, Meri Brown did a lot of work putting together this plural marriage. It seems the women were pretty much vetted by her first. Then if things panned out, they were presented to Kody with a stamp of approval.
Still, Meri Brown gained nothing from all this work on marriage arranging. It sounds as if she’s Kody’s wife in name only. She even seems more invested in keeping the marriage plural than Kody Brown is today.
