Kev falls apart as Robert dumps him in Emmerdale – and danger follows
Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) grew a backbone in tonight’s episode of Emmerdale and finally decided to end things with Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill).
Shortly after Robert reunited with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), Kev started texting him. We then learnt that these two men got married in prison, and supported each other a great deal as the days of their sentences ticked by.
In the flashback episode that aired on Wednesday, we discovered more about Kev’s personality and his possessive streak. When he found out that there was a chance Robert could appeal against his case and get released, he stabbed himself and then asked Robert to marry him.
Amid his focus on Kev getting better from the apparent attack, Robert convinced himself that the appeal wouldn’t work and put it at the back of his mind.
But following a visit from Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter), Robert pursued the appeal because he wanted to be with Aaron. When Kev discovered the news of Robert’s release, he once again panicked at the thought of his husband leaving.

Robert told Kev that he was getting freed because his sister had a brain tumour. This was a complete lie, but it made Kev’s negative feelings subside.
Kev and Robert’s relationship on the outside was never going to work, because Robert is destined to be with Aaron. Over the past few weeks, Robert has struggled to juggle reconnecting with Aaron, and keeping Kev happy enough so he doesn’t grow suspicious about his husband’s movements.
Everything changed in tonight’s episode though, as Robert decided enough was enough.
Prior to the decision, he was forced to hide in Aaron’s bedroom as Kev had burst in. He wanted answers about the lie regarding Vic, and had also convinced himself that his husband was with his ex.

Robert text Kev and created a cover story for himself. Moments later, he told Aaron that he couldn’t continue the plan anymore, it was time to break Kev’s heart.
And he really did.
Robert didn’t mention Aaron at all, but ended things with Kev by telling him that he cannot be the husband he needs. Robert told Kev that he deserved better.

Unsurprisingly, Kev reacted with anger initially and shouted at Robert. A while later, Robert updated Aaron and told him that while Kev lost it, things could’ve been a lot worse.
Unbeknownst to them both, Kev was in Woodbine crying his eyes out. Things are going to get a lot worse for Robron, as we will soon see Kev with a gun in his hand.
