90 Day Fiance: The Other Way finally has new couples and among them are Yohan Geronimo and Daniele Gates. He’s from the Dominican Republic and she’s from New York but what’s really striking is their enormous height difference. So how much taller is Yohan than her — and is Daniele so short that she’s technically a little person?

On the new season of the TLC spinoff, there are new couples (finally!) with interesting backstories and lifestyle differences. Two that are worlds apart are Yohan Geronimo and his New Yorker wife Daniele Gates.

He doesn’t speak her language and lives 1,534 miles South of where she did. Most of their story on 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way filmed in the Dominican Republic (DR). If you’re unsure where that is — it’s in the Caribbean Sea, off the tip of South Florida.

Cuba is about 100 miles from the southernmost part of mainland Florida. Then, 93 miles southeast of Cuba is the closest point of the large island of Hispaniola. That island is divided into two countries — Haiti to the West and the DR to the East.

And that’s where Daniele packed up to move to be with Yohan, although he wants to come to the US. Right off the bat, though, their biggest difference is in height. There’s a whopping 20″ difference in their heights as is evident on the 90 Day Fiance franchise.

Is Daniele from The Other Way Legally a Little Person?

One common question we’ve seen about Daniele Gates is whether she’s a little person. Many The Other Way viewers asked the same about Memphis Smith (Before the 90 Day Season 5). She’s even littler than Daniele who stands 4’11”. Memphis is just 4′ 9 1/2″.

So would either of these women be considered a “little person”? Both 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way cast members are very petite, but only one of them might meet the standards prescribed by the Little People of America (LPA) advocacy group.

LPA defines dwarfism as “a medical or genetic condition that usually results in an adult height of 4’10” or shorter” whether that person is male or female. And Wikipedia says “the sole requirement for being considered a dwarf is having an adult height under 4 ft 10 in”.

But they go on to say the person would then be subclassified “with respect to the underlying condition that is the cause of the short stature”. So, while Memphis falls under the height defined by LPA to be considered a little person, she has no underlying medical issue.

And 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way star Daniele is slightly taller than the textbook height maximum to be considered a little person. They are just both what most people would consider very short.

But there’s plenty of short people out there that don’t have dwarfism. And Yohan’s wife is one of these people. She’s just petite and he’s gigantic. That’s why she calls him “the Hulk”.

Did Yohan Geronimo Stay in the DR as his Wife Wanted on 90 Day Fiance Spinoff?

Many fans are upset that Daniele Gates came to the DR with no intention of following through. She made plans with her husband, to bring him to the US.

And Yohan Geronimo wants that badly. He’s intent, on the episodes seen so far, on moving to New York and starting a life in America. Like many aspiring immigrants, Yohan hopes to take advantage of opportunities he can’t get in the Dominican Republic.

But Yohan’s wife has no plans on going back to the US. While Daniele complains about sky-high rents in NYC, fans clap back about cheaper rents elsewhere.

The 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way duo doesn’t have to live in New York. There’s a lot of the US that’s far more affordable where they could live. But she came down with other intentions. She even admitted her lies on camera, confident to say it since he doesn’t speak English.

So, are they still in the DR or did Yohan convince her to come back to America and bring him on a CR-1 spousal visa? Currently, they still live in the Dominican Republic and as she said she would, Daniele Gates is carrying on with her yoga and chakra work there.

This month, she’s hosting a chakra retreat in the DR under her brand Liveyinsa. The price tag is $3,000-$4,000 for a 9 day-8 night stay at a DR resort plus classes and excursions. That cost seems to cover lodging and lessons, not meals.

You have to wonder if visitors to Daniele Gates’ HEAL: Transmute Trauma Through the Chakras Retreat will get a peep of her towering husband. If you didn’t already know, he’s 6’7″ to her 4’11” so he wouldn’t be hard to miss!
