90 Day Fiance: Nicole Sherbiny Engaged on First Date & Married Fast
Originally from Idaho, Nicole Sherbiny lived in Los Angeles and took what she thought would be a brief trip to Cairo, Egypt in 2018. There, she met and fell in love with Mahmoud Sherbiny, her husband now seen on 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way.
When she saw him in his family’s fabric store, she said, “I was shopping and there was this super cute boy, with these big brown eyes”. Mahmoud proposed to her on their first date, and she accepted.

She decided to move to Cairo with Mahmoud despite numerous challenges. These included cultural differences, financial strain, and disapproval from her family. The two married in Cairo, Egypt on January 31, 2019, and joined the cast of 90 Day Fiance.
Despite Nicole’s best intentions to adopt her husband’s culture, the strict rules were too much for her. In particular, the modest dress code required was part of what sent her fleeing. She returned to the United States after just two months of marriage.
Mahmoud Sherbiny Triggers Doubts on The Other Way
Despite the strict rules, Nicole moved to Egypt for a second time to be with Mahmoud Sherbiny. When discussing her decision with her parents, she said that the first time, she “was excited to move to Egypt to be with him”. And while she’s excited to see him, she doesn’t like living in Egypt.
On 90 Day Fiance; The Other Way, her parents worried she was sacrificing a lot. But Nicole Sherbiny said, “I don’t like the life there.” This exchange left fans wondering why she’d return to Egypt.

She admits she had doubts about them overcoming their issues due to communication issues. She said, “I love Mahmoud more than anything, but I do have doubts… we haven’t been able to communicate properly to overcome these problems.”
90 Day Fiance: The Other Way – Nicole Chafes at Cultural Restrictions
One of the biggest sources of conflict between them on the 90 Day Fiance spinoff is Mahmoud’s culture. Under Islamic law, her husband expects that his wife won’t hug or touch any male other than himself.
This caused some tension between them before. And fans of the show were baffled when she agreed to this rule. Additionally, Nicole Sherbiny is often surprised by Mahmoud’s insistence that she refrain from wearing tight or revealing clothing.

As seen on 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, he asked her to button her jacket at the airport after her flight to Egypt. In reply, she said, “Let me be who I am. Just, like, let me have some freedom”.
Despite the limitations on her freedom, Nicole Sherbiny said “I think that I’m making the right choice to move… because it’s important for me to be with my husband.”
Ultimately, it is up to Nicole and Mahmoud Sherbiny to decide how they want to handle their relationship. And despite fans’ concerns, it’s her decision to make these sacrifices to be with him.
