Coronation Street (23–27 February)

Next week on Coronation Street, Weatherfield braces for one of its most turbulent weeks in recent memory. Accusations fly, long-buried secrets resurface, and fractured families are pushed to the brink as violence, betrayal and regret ripple across the cobbles.

From Bernie Winter’s shocking arrest to Jodie’s increasingly sinister fixation on David, and Steve McDonald’s heartbreaking reckoning over his father Jim, the week of 23–27 February promises high drama with consequences that could alter lives forever.

Bernie Winter’s world begins to unravel when a confrontation with Mal takes a deeply disturbing turn. What starts as an unwanted confession of feelings quickly descends into fear when Mal locks the café door and refuses to accept her rejection. Bernie is left shaken—not just by his intensity, but by the chilling sense that something darker is brewing.

Her fears are confirmed when she discovers her face has been cut out of a wedding photograph. The violation is deeply personal, and Bernie wastes no time confronting Mal, accusing him of breaking into her home. He protests his innocence, but the damage is done. Bernie warns him to leave Weatherfield or face the police.

Alone at Number 7 while Dev and Asha are away, Bernie’s anxiety escalates. Hearing a noise at the door, she arms herself with a golf club, bracing for the worst. Though the visitor turns out to be Kit, the fear lingers. When Mal later confronts her publicly in Roy’s Rolls, Roy Cropper is forced to eject him, but the humiliation only fuels the tension.

In a moment of anger and desperation, Bernie threatens to kill Mal if he doesn’t stay away—words overheard by an unseen passerby.

Then comes the twist: Mal is found lying in the street with a serious head injury and rushed to hospital in critical condition. When DC Browning arrives to arrest Bernie on suspicion of assault, the street is left reeling.

Bernie insists she’s innocent, telling police that Mal had been stalking and harassing her. But with a witness claiming to have heard her threats, and Mal unable to speak for himself, doubt creeps in—even from Dev.

As Bernie is released pending further investigation, Dev’s faith wavers. Faced with the possibility that the woman he loves may be capable of violence, he struggles to reconcile the Bernie he knows with the evidence mounting against her.

Is Bernie being framed—or did fear push her too far?

Elsewhere, Jodie’s carefully constructed life begins to crack when a figure from her past arrives in Weatherfield.

After finally rebuffing Carl’s advances—thanks in part to Shona’s advice—Jodie believes she has regained control. But Ronnie’s suspicions about Carl manipulating Debbie intensify, and tension simmers in the background.

More ominously, Jodie is being watched.

A mysterious woman wearing a locket identical to Jodie’s keeps her distance, observing from afar. The tension escalates when that woman reveals herself as Olivia—someone who knows Jodie all too well.

Olivia confronts her with pointed questions about why she left and the troubling “accidents” that preceded her departure. Jodie struggles to maintain her composure, but her mask begins to slip.

The situation becomes even more disturbing when Shona realises her wedding ring is missing—only for David to find Jodie searching for it down the back of the sofa. The proximity between Jodie and David is uncomfortably intimate, and it’s clear Jodie relishes the closeness.

Later, she subtly undermines Shona by implying David has neglected household chores, further widening the cracks in their marriage. Bethany and Maria’s comments about David and Shona being the “perfect couple” only deepen Jodie’s resentment.

Meanwhile, Olivia’s warning hangs heavy in the air: Jodie hasn’t changed.

As secrets from Jodie’s past threaten to surface, the question looms—how far is she willing to go to secure the life she believes she deserves?

Steve Faces a Final Chance with Jim

For Steve McDonald, the week brings a different kind of crisis—one rooted in unresolved pain.

After receiving a call from Jim’s landlord about unpaid rent, Steve learns he has been listed as guarantor. Further digging reveals that his father is in hospital and not expected to recover.

Encouraged by Cassie to visit, Steve hesitates. Tracy reminds him of the emotional scars Jim left behind. When Ben offers to drive him to the hospital, Steve gets as far as the car park—but cannot bring himself to go inside.

Instead, he spends the day at a county event with Tim and Ben, drowning his guilt in darts and drink at the Rovers. But while he laughs with friends, a call from Jim goes unanswered.

The next morning, Steve wakes with a hangover—and crushing regret. When the hospital calls with news of Jim’s rapid decline, Steve is forced to confront the possibility that he may have missed his final opportunity for reconciliation.

Torn between anger and love, Steve must decide whether holding onto old wounds is worth the cost of goodbye.

Legal Battles and Hidden Threats

Elsewhere, George Shuttleworth finds himself embroiled in a legal storm after a careless joke about manipulating wills is overheard by Mrs Ripley, a potential client. Matters worsen when Adam Barlow reveals that Annie intends to contest her mother’s will—naming George and Christina as co-conspirators.

With accusations flying and a £10,000 inheritance under scrutiny, George must consider whether declining the money would appear as an admission of guilt.

Meanwhile, Lauren’s excitement over a dinner invitation from Olly is dampened by Maggie’s thinly veiled threats. Reminding Lauren who secured her job, Maggie makes it clear loyalty comes at a price.

A Street on Edge

As the week draws to a close, Weatherfield feels like a pressure cooker ready to explode.

Bernie stands isolated, unsure who to trust. Jodie’s obsession grows more dangerous by the day. Steve grapples with grief and regret. And in the shadows, someone watches—recording, waiting, manipulating events from afar.

If this week proves anything, it’s that in Weatherfield, the past never stays buried—and the consequences of fear, desire and pride can be devastating.

With lives hanging in the balance and secrets threatening to destroy families, the question is no longer who will survive the fallout—but who will be left standing when the truth finally comes to light.
