Emmerdale villain Ray Walters leaves Rhona Goskirk terrified again tonight, as he befriends her mum Mary with sinister intentions. In the wake of Mary’s return from a short break, Ray toys with Rhona’s emotions by letting her believe that her mum could be in danger.

Rhona is already feeling unsettled following Mary’s reappearance, as she worries about the consequences of her getting too close to the truth about April Windsor’s ongoing ordeal. The village vet knows that it’s much safer for Mary if she knows nothing about what April is going through with Ray and Celia Daniels.

In tonight’s scenes, Ray worms his way into Mary’s good books by helping her to carry some heavy shopping.

Mary is full of appreciation for the seemingly-kind gesture, but Rhona knows that Ray has engineered this situation to make a point.

Before long, Mary sings Ray’s praises and backs him as a great match for Laurel Thomas. However, when Rhona fiercely argues otherwise, it only makes Mary more suspicious over what her daughter may be hiding from her.

There have already been strange warning signs which are troubling Mary, including Rhona’s recent decision not to tell her about Dylan Penders’ hit and run incident.

When Mary starts asking too many questions, Rhona announces that it’s time for her to move out. This doesn’t work out as planned, so Rhona doubles down by saying something that could wreck her relationship with Mary forever…

“Rhona hates herself for hurting Mary’s feelings,” our Emmerdale insider recently said. “But she thinks the alternative is even worse. If Mary moves out following a row, at least she’ll be safe.

“But has Rhona done enough to hose down Mary’s suspicions that something isn’t right?”
